A letter from Kappa's Recruitment Chair
When I imagined what my college experience would look like many years ago, I never would have imagined it would be as great as it has been. I came from a very close family and a tight knit group of fiends and hoped I would find that at college but was unsure if that was possible. Iowa State felt so big and I did not know how I was going to find my place in it all. I made the choice to go through Primary Recruitment without knowing anything about it... little did I know that would become the best decision I could have made.
Going through Primary Recruitment was exciting and nerve-racking all at the same time. Although I was hopeful that it would help me find my "home away from home", I also did not know what to expect being the first person in my family to make the decision to go through recruitment. After a long day of talking to strangers, and walking from one sorority house to the next, I walked in to Kappa Kappa Gamma and instantly knew I was exactly where I was supposed to be. The women were all so different but all created a positive and welcoming atmosphere that immediately made me feel at home. After leaving my best friends, my family and most importantly my dog, this feeling is exactly what I needed to keep me from packing up my things and calling it quits. Two years later the women of Kappa Kappa Gamma continue to make me feel as though I am home every time I walk through the front door of 120 Lynn.
I encourage you to go through Primary Recruitment and take it for everything as it has to offer. Take advantage of meeting the women on your floor and create a bond with your Rho Gamma... little did I know mine would soon end up to be my biggest role model! Primary Recruitment can offer you so much more than you can even imagine right now and I only hope that you take the opportunity, run with it and never look back.
I look forward to meeting you all during Primary Recruitment 2017!
Loyally,
Olivia Danner
